You want to fly around the world, in a beautiful balloon :) Life indeed can be fun, if you really want to. Sometimes living out your dreams, ain't as easy as it seems. The post-exchange trip to the West Coast had been awesome I must say, especially with Michael flying over to meet me in Los Angeles albeit all the ups and downs during the whole trip. The whole planning process wasn't an easy one to begin with, but I'm glad the trip materializes and I had so much fun. I have always wanted to go to California, and I can't believe I have already stepped foot there so soon. However, I was a little disappointed there, because the places wasn't as great as I presume it to be so. I was utterly disappointed especially during my time in Los Angeles to be honest. Unfortunately, circumstances had to arise even before our adventure begins. Michael was experiencing some problem with customs and was being detained there for hours; and I was so worried that the US customs would send him back to SG! Thank goodness everything turns out fine in the end :) As we set foot on our first destination at the Hollywood Walk of Frame, things wasn't that pleasant and we encountered the worst shock of our lives there. There were many of those dressed up as celebrity/super heros who duped you into taking photos with them so that you have to pay them tips after that; and also those on the side walks who offered you CDs for free, but with the agenda of making money out of you. Can't imagine those people forcing them onto my hands and it was utterly annoying, and Michael and I ended up having to give like 35USD in all for these useless CDs. I was already feeling so flustered by then, and then we still have to experience the worst rude shock of our lives when Yh was being targeted by a hooligan for the iPhone he was holding in his hands. He was already pushed to the ground by the time I could even react to anything, and no one even bothered helping even with the tussle that occurred for several minutes. Thankfully Michael was there, and shoved the hooligan aside albeit being a dangerous situation. What if that guy has a gun/knife? Thankfully the remaining days in LA turned out fine, albeit the cloud of fear and suspicion we had to live in due the incident we encountered that fateful night. I do not even dare to take out my phone/camera unless necessary, and it was such a pity because I didn't get to take as much shots as I wanted to. We covered places like the Venice Beach, Santa Monica Bay, Griffith Observatory, Runyon National Park, the Hollywood sign, Beverly Hills, Sunset strip and Disneyland. I'm glad that we all made it out safe and sound, but nonetheless the disappointment we have had. LA wasn't that glamorous as it was touted to be. Nevada was up next in our itinerary! Despite losing money in Roulette at the casino, and subsequently food poisoning which causes me to vomit for 3 nights consecutively, I really enjoyed my stay in Nevada :) The city never sleeps in Las Vegas indeed holds so true; because the nightlife there is really beautiful especially at the Las Vegas Strip! Drove to Red Rock Canyon National Park and the Hoover Dam too; and nothing really beats the beauty of mother nature! It's a pity we decided not to head to the Grand Canyon in the end; due in part to the long journey and also because it is pretty dangerous especially when it is the winter season and roads are slippery. But nonetheless, I will definitely be back and visit the Grand Canyon one day. And off we head to San Francisco via a 2 days pit-stop at Monterey. It was a really tough and journey, especially when Yh and I are suffering from the food poisoning back in Nevada, and also Michael who have to drive us which took almost a full day to arrive there. The roads are really dark at night and it gets pretty dangerous and scary. Nevertheless, we still managed to witness the beautiful sunset at Zuma Beach along the way, and also the beautiful scenery along the scenic drive at Big Sur during our time in Monterey. And so we arrived at San Francisco as our last destination at the West Coast, and it was my favorite place there :) I have always dreamt of being at the Golden Gate Bridge, and enjoying the famous clam chowder at Fisherman's Wharf, and my time there really made it feel so surreal. There were also a lot of Asians over here, and it made me feel so much safer too. Not forgetting having visited the Coit Tower which provides a view of the city's skyline, the Union Square, and the Walt Disney Museum. |
