21st at the Great Smokies, Tennessee Realized I haven't been blogging for longggggg. The past few weeks had really been busy, with all the tests, midterms, and stuffs, and I've no idea what have I been doing. Sometimes I really wonder if I'm really on exchange, because the workload here are worst than NUS I must say. Especially in the week prior to fallbreak, I had so much work that I'm literally stuck in Davis Library the whole day for the whole week. Moreover, there's no recess week prior to midterms over here, and this made me realize how slack NUS is compared to school right here in UNC. Oh well, I'm glad I've made it through the tough times, at least for now. I'm looking forward to the trips over the next few weeks before I get busy again after thanksgiving! Niagara Falls, Carowinds @ Charlotte and Orlando trip, I can't wait to be at these places already! Anyway, fallbreak was really awesomeeeee! Took a 5hours drive from Durham to Tennessee, where we spent our fallbreak over at the Great Smoky Mountains. Indeed the Great Smokies do live up to its name; everywhere just got smokier as we got higher up in altitude up the mountains and that vision was rather bad on the 1st day we got up the mountains. We took the challenge on the Appalachian Trail on the 1st day, covering a total of 8.3 miles over 4 hours. It was 12 midnight 19th October in SG time when we reached the peak of the trail, and how nice it is to be spending the 1st moment of my 21st birthday at the peak of the mountains, and also Bryan, Yeow Hua and Jason who were there with me :) Nonetheless, the trail was rather strenuous, almost couldn't feel my legs when we arrived back at the starting point. Such a sense of accomplishment we all felt when we completed the hike! :) Took up another challenge on the 2nd day up the mountains to the Rainbow Falls. However, it's been a great pity we didn't managed to reach the peak due to time constraint as the sun was setting, and we need to get out of the trail before it gets dark. Oh well, what matters is that we all had fun! The trail was even more strenuous to begin with - it was upslope all the way, and at one point of time, my legs were so wobbly that I couldn't even lift up my feet up the flight of steps and I just dropped onto the ground like nobody's business. Such an embarrassing moment. HAHAHAHA Watched the beautiful sunset at the Great Smokies before we got down the mountains, where the guys celebrated for my birthday at night back in the hotel because Bryan's driving. Thanks Bryan for treating the drinks for my birthday too, and I'm really thankful to be spending my 21st with these awesome group of friends :) Such a simple, yet memorable 21st birthday and milestone in the time of my life. And I know who really cares for me :) |
