seems so surreal It's going to be 2 weeks since I arrived in the United States already; and I'm slowly adapting to the life here. The days are getting better and I'm starting to enjoy myself here as compared to how it was like when I first arrived (probably due to culture shock). Nonetheless I miss everybody back home, especially Mum. Hopefully she wouldn't be too lonely without me at home for the next 4months, because she always dote on me the most :( I'm really thankful for all the exchange students who are here with me also, which gives me some sort of familiarity and makes me feel less homesick. I had been rather busy with so much activities ever since I arrived on campus last Saturday, hence I haven't had much time to actually sit down in proper to blog as I felt so sleepy whenever I'm back in my dorm. And in fact, I just came back from a dance party with my roomie & suite mates - Nisa, Amanda and Hollis :) Thanks so much for bringing me there; even though the music wasn't that good, but it had been an experience for me! Nonetheless, I made many new international friends during the past 13 days here, and I just did lunch with Meena, Seung and Xinyue just yesterday over at Franklin Street. The Mexican food we had was awesome! Through these 13 days being away from home and leading a new life right here, I must say I did learnt something, as I get to see and experience so much new things. Of all these, I must say that I am really impressed by how the Americans were during classes. All of them were so attentive and actively engaged in lesson; and because of this I'm trying hard not to succumb to my old habits of daydreaming and using my phone in class. I was sharing with my roomie about this just few days ago and she was so surprised to know this. Nevertheless, everyone's here are so friendly. I still vividly remembered the day when I first arrived in my dorm and I was given a warm welcome by my fellow suite mates, but no doubt I was a little scared and intimidated by it. Everyone here is really so nice; my roomie and suite mates are always inviting me over to their room for movies, to attend churches with them, and of course they brought me over to a dance party just today. My roomie - Nisa, is really nice and funny, & she has got so much stuffs and actually offered to share with me. Just had some really nice chats with her on several nights over the past few days :) Apart from the fun, school had been mundane :( Can't believed that assignments are piling up in the 1st week of school already, and I'm not catching things during class. In fact, I'm still in the summer holidays mood and I can't really concentrate on my work right now - this really makes me feel scared, judging from how hard I really studied back in NUS. Hopefully everything goes well; hopefully I can scrap through all my 6 modules and at the same time to really enjoy this once in a life time experience. I can't believe I would be leaving for the first road trip later in the day today; bet it would be so much fun, albeit spending so much time and effort planning it over the past 1 week. I would be off-campus for the next 4 days, and so probably I won't have access to wifi, so people please don't whatsapp me! Till then, and HELLO WASHINGTON D.C!!! :) :) :) & HAPPY LABOUR DAY!! |
