Across the Pacific Ocean It's been 5 days since I left SG, and I had been busy the past few days settling so much stuffs. Now I finally realised that leaving your loved ones and friends isn't that easy afterall; and I had been feeling rather sad since the day I left. On top of that, the broke down in communication with everyone without a phone number and internet connection just made everything worse. Thankfully my roomie is so nice to let me use her wifi in the room. I missed everyone back home in SG. I never knew how much home in SG meant to me until I step foot onto the plane last Friday - tearing on the plane both to Japan and New York and asking myself why did I opted for an exchange programme a year ago, and I remembered how tightly I hugged my bolster and pillow before I left for the airport. This morning I teared once again on my bed, probably because I couldn't sleep the whole night and it had been coldddddd the whole night, and finally wiping those tears off as I get ready for school. Nevertheless, I'm glad I managed to meet many friends the last 2 weeks before I left, and also I felt so touched with my family, Eileen, Terence and Shawn sending me off at the airport at some 4am in the morning. Not forgetting Kaye who skyped us at the airport from Toronto, and also Chinkz and Diane who wanted to pass me a card at the airport but unfortunately they got the timing wrongly. I can't be more than thankful for all these :) The journey way here had been longgggg, and felt like I'm lost in time and space. I will never forget the 21hours layover experience in New York - JFK airport, especially whatever that happened that night, but I'm glad I survived through that tough night there. Glad that I'm all here settled down on campus already. My neighbors are all so friendly, and they just invited me over to their room for late night movie 2 days back :) School just started today, and oh wells, it just feels sort of weird attending all classes alone. And classes had been so small, which means I can't slack and daydream. The campus is so huge, and I was lost in the building for my 1st lesson this morning, which resulted in me being so so late. Hahaha. Hopefully I will stay optimistic these few months to keep me going, and a big thank you to all my friends who whatsapped me and gave me so much encouragement, you guys know who you are :) Nonetheless, hope the time here would be good, and looking forward to the trips over the weekend :) Had been so lazy and I haven't took much photos here yet :( Oh wells, but here's a nice picture of the famous bell tower in UNC. |
