What a day! It was the pre-departure briefing to the USA today, and I'm glad I actually went albeit having difficulty waking up in the morning. After the 2 months of conversations online, I've finally met the other exchange people personally (Yi Tong, Moritza, Bryan & Jason) who are going UNC too today, and also having made some plans to travel together before the school term starts; like to the Niagara Falls and Florida. Of course not forgetting New York City! So after the briefing I had to rush to Raffles Place to have my contract signed after a surprise call pertaining to a job offer while I was otw to school. Many of my friends have started their internship/work this week already, and I guess its high time for me to stop slacking around. As much as I would like and even once had the intention to slack throughout this whole holiday, I still feel some uneasiness whenever I thought of how wasted this holiday would be if I don't reap something out and learn something new; and most importantly I need the money to travel during my exchange. Therefore, I decided to put aside the thought of having fun for the time-being since I can do so from August onwards, and to accept the job offer. Not forgetting, I had such an 'adventurous' day when I decided to recce the place (would be working at AVIVA Singapore at Shenton Way) after signing my contract just in case I couldn't find it when I report for work next week; and I'm glad I actually did that. After today's incident, I have to admit that my navigation skill is way too horrible; bet no one can beat me. Started walking from Raffles Place, and somehow I headed the wrong way and ended up at Clarke Quay MRT. In the end, I actually had a tour for myself around the Central Business District area before I finally found the place after one and a half hour :( Even having a smartphone with me doesn't help at all, and ended up my battery actually died. If I had gone by the correct exit at Raffles Place, I'd have easily reach in 10-15 mins time. Never knew the CBD area could be this complicated, there were way too many crossroads along the way! I guess I was really too shagged after my own mini tour, and ended up taking the wrong line at the MRT. What a joke.. First time ever in my life I think I am damn sua ku Hopefully after I got back from the U.S at the end of the year/next year, my navigation skill would have improve; and most importantly I don't get lost there.. Cherishing the last few days before I say hello to the monotonous work life on Tuesday; and by the time my contract ends, I'd have left with < 1 month before I leave SG. Hopefully I would be able to catch up with everyone I intended to by then. Hopefully all is well for my new job! Mother's day is approaching! Hopefully Mummy will like what I got for her! <3 |
